Lincoln Memorial - Then and Now

Lincoln Memorial - Then and Now, originally uploaded by cngodles.
We ended the longest Beach Vacation ever with a drive to DC on Monday, June 27th, 2011. We took the grand tour, a full 7 miles of walking. We started in the Museum of Natural History, walked to the Capital, walked to the White House, stopped by the Lincoln Memorial and finished at the Washington Monument in the dark. Rachel had never seen the Capital, so I was glad to get over there.

This photo carries some weight in my life. That's my grandma on the left side, back in the 1960's I believe. I never met her, she died in 1982, I was born in 1983. But I did get to stand in the exact same spot she once stood, and had our picture taken. The reflecting pool was all torn up for a restoration this time though, but it will still awesome to see it.

I do love visiting DC. If it's on my way home, I usually make it a point to stop. It's the most interesting place to visit that is less than 5 hours from my house.

The beach was great, Ralena loved it. And she loves everything, she is always so happy to be anywhere we take her. We started the day with an 8 hour drive to DC, walked her 7 miles in a stroller, and then took another 5 hours to get home. And through it all, she was barely fussy. What a wonderful daughter I have. :)

As always, I'm currently short on time to write (It's 12:40AM and I need to get to sleep for work tomorrow), but I hope to catch up soon.

Later.
